1. Who We Are
Maple Payment Inc. is a Canadian payment service provider. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable privacy laws. As a registered money services business, we are also subject to record-keeping and reporting obligations under Canada’s anti-money-laundering laws.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your mobile phone number, and your name and email address where provided.
- Banking information: details of the chequing account you link to fund payments, such as your name and your account and transit numbers. You connect your account through a secure bank-linking service.
- Support and communications: information you provide when you contact us.
Information created when you use the Service
- Transaction information: the merchant, amount, tip, date and time, and status of each payment.
- Device and usage information: device identifiers, app version, IP address, and log and analytics data about how you use the Service.
Information from third parties
We receive information from our payment processor to link your account and process transfers, and from merchants and fraud- and identity-verification providers as needed to operate the Service and meet our legal obligations.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage your account and verify your identity and phone number;
- process your payments, including initiating debits and paying merchants;
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including anti-money-laundering record-keeping and reporting; and
- maintain, analyze, and improve the Service.
4. Consent
We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, which you give when you create an account and use the Service, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. Some information is necessary to provide the Service. If you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to offer you the Service. You may withdraw your consent as described in “Your Choices and Rights” below, subject to legal and contractual limits.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
- Our payment processor: a third-party provider that links your bank account and processes electronic funds transfers.
- Merchants: the merchant you pay receives transaction details necessary to complete and reconcile the payment.
- Service providers: vendors that help us run the Service (for example hosting, analytics, communications, and fraud prevention), bound to protect the information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
- Legal and regulatory authorities: where required or permitted by law, including FINTRAC, tax authorities, regulators, and law enforcement.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
6. Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, to understand how it is used and to improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work properly if cookies are disabled.

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy and to meet our legal obligations. As a money services business, we are required to retain certain transaction and identification records for a minimum period (generally five years) under applicable anti-money-laundering law. The Service may link to or rely on third-party services, such as our payment processor and financial institutions. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will provide notice through the app, by email, or on our website, and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
